AFinLA

The Finnish Association for Applied Linguistics, AFinLA (Association Finlandaise de Linguistique Appliquée), is an affiliate member organisation of the International Association for Applied Linguistics (AILA). The association, whose history was recently presented in an article published in the European Journal of Applied Linguistics, was founded in 1970 in Turku.

AFinLA organises an annual Autumn Symposium, publishes two peer-reviewed publication series and provides information about research and events in applied linguistics in Finland and abroad. The association is also known for its research networks and the Afinlandia award.

In August 1996, AFinLA and the University of Jyväskylä had the honour of hosting the 11th AILA World Congress, and in May 2014 the sixth AILA-Europe Junior Researcher Meeting in Applied Linguistics Conference.

AFinLA welcomes everyone interested in the themes of applied linguistics to join AFinLA, whether you are in working life, studying or already retired!
