The DISEA research network of AFinLA organises an online research seminar

What: Research seminar organised online (via Zoom)

Goal: To provide researchers with a low threshold forum to present and discuss their research in progress

When: 21 April 2023, 10:00-14:45

Target group:

  • Presenters: researchers who work within Bakhtinian dialogical, sociocultural / cultural-historical theory, and/or an ecological approach (or other similar theoretical perspectives) as theoretical bases of their research and focus on studying language learning, teaching, and assessment.
  • Audience: Researchers, teachers or others interested in researching language learning, teaching and assessment.

Professor Emerita Hannele Dufva will give a keynote speech at the seminar. Professor Dufva is a world-renowned scholar in Applied Linguistics, conducting research in many scholarly traditions the DISEA network focuses on, particularly within the dialogical tradition. Professor Dufva will give a talk on how she came to use these theories and how these theories connect to her recent and current research.

Registration: (as a presenter or audience member) until 3 April 2023: https://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/FF4C3F2686F1B556

Instructions for presenters: Your presentation and abstract can be in Finnish or English. Your presentation can focus on any topic you are currently working on (i.e., research in progress): a research article in progress, an analysis, a challenging topic you are struggling with, and where you would like feedback from the academic community. Presentations of completed research are also welcome, but the focus of the seminar is research in progress.

Each speaker will have 40 minutes but at least half of this time should be reserved for a discussion with the audience.

There will be room for three presentations.

Write to us if you have any questions and feel free to forward this invitation to interested researchers.

Welcome to the seminar!
